Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Why do we need parenting classes? Our parents didn't have them and got through it.

The world has changed dramatically for all of us. Things that worked for our parents will not work for us. The world of the internet, television, and video games has a greater impact on children today than that of just one generation ago. Our "old" methods won't work with the new situations children and parents are facing every day.

What is the Becoming a Love and Logic Parent® training course?

The Becoming a Love and Logic Parent® training course teaches a philosophy that allows parents to parent without lectures, threats and anger. We love our children enough to allow them to make mistakes when the price tag is small. When they make mistakes, we guide them through the problem solving phase. The best solution for any problem rests with the person who has the problem. The logic part is there are consequences for every decision our children make. We use empathy to assist in this process. The process allows the children to learn about cause and effect, which is real world experience.

When is the right time to take a workshop?

Any time is the right time. You can use Becoming a Love and Logic Parent® techniques on children as young as 9 months of age up to and including your adult children. Many people take the class more than once as it is easy to fall into old habits and as our children get older the issues change. All parents can use additional tools to raise a respectful and responsible child. The format of the classes allows for many opportunities to network with other parents. Each week the class has videos addressing all age groups, workbook exercises and group discussion. There is much laughter in the class as parents work on their new skills.
