Sharon Whitson RSST
Sharon is a Registered Social Service Technician. She has over twenty-five years experience working with parents and children in the field of social work. She is devoted to strengthening families. Every year she attends educational seminars to renew and refresh her current knowledge and find ways to increase parenting success.
Sharon is a Becoming a Love and Logic Parent® Independent Facilitator. She has been teaching this program for over five years. She attends training yearly at the Love and Logic Institute, Inc. in Colorado. Sharon utilizes the techniques from the Becoming a Love and Logic Parent® program regularly in her work.
Sharon has spent much of her career educating others. She teaches parenting, family responsibilities, child behavior, utilizing available resources, consumer education, budgeting, recordkeeping, household management skills, meal planning, and household maintenance to her clients and mentors. She demonstrates to parents how to be successful in parenting on a daily basis. Every year finds her demonstrating and supervising field work for a new student Social Work Technician.
As the Developer and Program Manager of the Family Focus Mentor Program, Sharon shows people how to assess needs and creatively apply practical knowledge for problem solving. She trains people to recognize at risk situations for children, placing the emphasis on prevention and keeping families safely together.
Sharon is co-founder of Parenting Partnership with her friend and partner, Gloria Sherman.
Sharon is a wife and mother. She and her loving husband Jim married in 1969. Sharon's daughter and son are both college graduates. Sharon has lived in Lapeer County for over twenty-five years.
